Purpose 

As a dedicated and skilled scrum master, you will take on a crucial role in leading and facilitating the agile practices within our data team. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth execution of projects, fostering collaboration, and promoting continuous improvement. By leveraging your expertise, you will empower the team to deliver high-quality data products that meet customer needs and drive business value.

Responsibilities 

  1. Agile Facilitation and Team Support (40% of time spent)
  2. Act as a servant leader, guiding the team through agile practices and ensuring adherence to Scrum/SAFe principles.
  3. Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, scrum of scrums and PI plannings
  4. Remove any impediments or obstacles that may hinder the team's progress and help them self-organize.
  5. Promote a positive team culture and motivate team members to continuously improve their performance.
  6. Foster a collaborative environment, encouraging cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing.


  1. Relationship Building and Stakeholder Management (20% of time spent)
  2. Establish strong relationships with stakeholders, including business users, data scientists, data analysts, IT developers.
  3. Communicate the team's progress, impediments, and upcoming deliverables to stakeholders.
  4. Create visibility on progress of KPI’s and metrics that measure the performance of our work
  5. Advocate for the team and promote a customer-centric approach to deliver valuable data products.


  1. Agile Coaching and Process Improvement (20% of time spent)
  2. Coach the team on agile practices, ensuring they understand and follow Scrum/SAFe methodologies.
  3. Identify opportunities for process improvement and guide the team in implementing changes.
  4. Continuously monitor and evaluate the team's performance, identifying areas for growth and providing guidance for improvement.
  5. Share best practices and promote a culture of learning and innovation within the data team.


  1. Scrum Team Support and Coordination (15% of time spent)
  2. Collaborate with the Product Owner and development team to refine and prioritize the product backlog.
  3. Assist the team in breaking down user stories, estimating effort, and planning sprint work.
  4. Track and communicate progress, ensuring the team delivers on commitments.
  5. Facilitate coordination and alignment between the data team and other cross-functional teams.


  1. Continuous Learning and Professional Development (5% of time spent)
  2. Stay up to date with the latest trends and advancements in agile methodologies and data-related technologies.
  3. Participate in relevant training, conferences, and workshops to enhance your skills and knowledge.
  4. Share acquired knowledge and insights with the data team to foster continuous learning and growth.


Competencies 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (computer science, engineering, or related discipline).
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in data teams or data-driven projects.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach.
  • Strong understanding of agile principles, Scrum framework, and other agile methodologies.
  • Excellent facilitation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire teams to achieve their goals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in JIRA and Confluence 
  • Experience with data governance is a plus
  • Familiarity with data-related products such as enterprise dashboards, data self-service analytics, machine learning and business intelligence
  • Relevant certifications as Scrum Master are a plus
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of additional languages is a plus.
