What is the difference between a Visa Debit and a Visa Classic, Gold or Platinum?

The payments that are done with your Visa Debit card are immediately debited from your current account. If you are paying with one of our credit cards, your expenses are debited the next month.

How to activate your Visa Debit?

This can be done on the app as well as on the transaction site:

• Choose the “Banking” environment
• Click or tap on “Cards”
• Select “Activate my card”

As a result your Visa Debit will be activated. Another way to have it activated is through a payment terminal or an ATM when using your PIN code.

RecommendedTip: do not pay contactless the first time you use your Visa Debit and use your PIN code for your first transaction.

I have received my new Visa Debit card. What to do with my old card?

You have two options:

• Either you activate your new debit card, in which case we consider you to have accepted the special terms and conditions of the Visa Debit. Therefore, you can cut your old card into pieces.
• If you do not accept the new special terms ans conditions, do not activate your new Visa Debit. In this case, you should cut the new card into pieces. Your current 'Maestro' debit card can still be used during 2 months. After 2 months, this 'Maestro' card will be permanently blocked.
