What is the term deposit account?

The term deposit account is an account that allows you to block money for a defined period. At Keytrade Bank we have terms ranging from 1 to 10 years.

How much does the term deposit account cost?

The term deposit account is totally free of charge. There is no cost when opening a term deposit nor at the end date.

In case of exit before maturity, the cost of an exit depends on the remaining term of the term account and the refinancing rates applicable at that time, plus a penalisation rate of 0.5%.

What is the duration of a term deposit account?

You can choose between fixed terms ranging from 1 to 10 years.

Does the term deposit account require a minimum and a maximum amount?

The minimum amount is 5000EUR . The maximum amount is 2 500 000EUR .

How to open a term deposit account?

  • If you are not a client of Keytrade Bank, you first need to become a client.
  • If you are a client of Keytrade Bank, log on to our transaction site (not the app) and click on saving in the Banking menu and then select term deposit account.

Can you access your invested amount earlier than expected?

The term deposit account allows you to choose an investment for a specific period at a fixed interest rate. However, if you need liquid funds urgently due to unforeseen circumstances, it is possible to terminate your term deposit account before maturity at any time. There is a termination period of 32 calendar days that starts on the day Keytrade Bank has registered your closure request. This means that your payment on the linked current account will only be done 32 calendar days later.

What happens at the maturity or due date?

At the due date, the deposited amount and the accrued interest will be automatically deposited on your linked account.

Is there a taxation of a term deposit?

Yes, the income of the term deposit account is subject to Belgian withholding tax of 30%. This tax regime applies to individual Belgian investors who are residents of the country.
