Opening an account with Keytrade Bank

Who can open an account with Keytrade Bank?

Opening an account with Keytrade Bank is subject to the following conditions:

• The application must be signed by an adult. An account for a minor must be opened by the minor's adult parent or legal guardian.
• The applicant must have valid proof of identity:
  • Either a Belgian identity card for Belgian residents
  • Or a passport for non-Belgian residents
• The account holder must:
  • Either have Belgian citizenship
  • Or be resident in Belgium
  • Or be tax-resident in Belgium
• The applicant must have a valid email address and mobile phone number.

If you meet these conditions, you can complete our online application form (with or without itsme®) and consent to Keytrade Bank’s general terms and conditions and privacy policy.

When the bank has received all the necessary documents, it will analyse the application and open a free current, savings and trading account upon approval*. We will then send you the necessary authentication methods to manage the accounts 100% online.

Can I open a second current account?

Yes, you can. You can submit your application* on our website under "Become a client".

Can I become a client with itsme®?

Yes, you can use itsme® to become a Keytrade Bank client.

What are the practical requirements for me to become a Keytrade Bank client?

• A computer, smartphone or tablet with internet access
• A valid identity card or passport
• A valid email address
• A mobile phone number

This is what you need to complete the online application form*.

Can I also become a client if my mobile phone number is not a Belgian number?

Yes, you can.

Please note that you need a Belgian mobile number to activate a debit or credit card remotely. If your mobile number is not Belgian, we will complete this process by post.

Does my account application need to be signed electronically or manually?

We offer both options. Electronic signatures are only possible with itsme® (we do not support any other electronic signatures). If you sign manually, you need to print the contract (or have it printed), sign it and return it to us.

How long does it take to process an account application?

This depends on several factors. In many cases, it is almost instantaneous or takes place within a matter of a few days. In other cases, it can take up to a few weeks. When you submit your application, you may need to provide a number of required documents. We can only process your application when we have received all the documents. On approval, we will open your accounts and you will receive the necessary information and passwords to manage your accounts online.

When and why should I use a promo code in my application?

Keytrade Bank regularly run campaigns with promo codes that make it extra advantageous to become a client. If you want to become a client, enter the campaign's promo code during your application.
